'Making Haye' delivers a knockout read

'Making Haye', the authorised biography of former world heavyweight and cruiserweight champion David Haye, hit book shops a little over ten days ago and is already the talk of boxing fans up and down the country. The 31-year-old boxer's Twitter account (@davidhaye) has been inundated with goodwill messages and snappy reviews since the book's release and Haye himself has revealed his delight at the public's initial reaction.

"I couldn't be happier with the way the book has been received," said Haye. "My social networking sites have been jam-packed with positive messages about the book, and the two signings we did in London last week were both very well attended. There were non-stop queues for a solid hour at both Selfridges and Waterstone's (Canary Wharf), and it was brilliant to see so many kind and familiar faces. I'd like to thank all of the fans that turned out for the signings."

Written by sportswriter Elliot Worsell, 'Making Haye' shines the light on aspects of Haye's career and personal life so far shielded from the public at large, and also offers an insight into the current state of the retired prizefighter's mind. Since announcing his retirement from the sport on October 27, Haye has been frequently asked about a potential return to the ring, from both fans and critics alike. While 'Making Haye' presents reasons for and against continuing, very little is resolved or confirmed at the conclusion of page 386.

"Everybody wants to know what is happening with my boxing career," said Haye. "I was being asked those sorts of questions by pretty much all of the people who wanted a picture and an autograph at the signings. It was nice to know that so many fans are still interested in what I am up to and are keen to see me box again. 'Making Haye' leaves readers on a bit of a cliffhanger, to be honest, and that is very much the way things stand right now."
