Current WBA world heavyweight champion David 'The Hayemaker' Haye will this afternoon announce details of the first defence of his championship at a Manchester press conference. The press conference will be televised live on Sky Sports News from 1PM.
Haye lifted his WBA title with a masterful decision victory over Nikolai Valuev last November in Nuremberg, Germany. Having previously won three world titles as a cruiserweight, Haye now seeks to unify and dominate the heavyweight division.
First on Haye's agenda is WBA mandatory challenger John 'The Quiet Man' Ruiz. Ranked at number one by the WBA, Ruiz is a former two-time WBA champion and the only Latino in history to claim a heavyweight world title to his name. Now 38, Ruiz embarks on one final run at his old belt against Haye in 2010.
