Ruben’s Recipe of the Week: GREEN JUICE

Ruben Tabares is nutritionist to WBA world heavyweight Haye. He tells the big man what and what not to eat and prepares special recipes to ensure his boxing physique gets the goodness it needs. This week Ruben tells us about the grim-looking GREEN JUICE, the vegetable smoothie with a peppery kick.

What’s in it? Rocket, pineapple, celery, cucumber and peppers.

What does it do? David drinks up to two litres a day to restore electrolytes and minerals, which he loses while training.

If you want to make it for yourself, follow Ruben’s top tips:

-Do not drink more than 150ml per day, which is less than half a can of coke.

-Do not drink as a substitute for breakfast.

-Make a fresh batch everyday as the goodness in the juice starts to die 20 minutes after preparation.

-Only use organic fruit and vegetables.
