From Bermondsey to the top of two divisions.

I turned professional in 2002 and I never went looking for the easy night. I went looking for the champion.

By 2008 I had unified the cruiserweight division. WBA, WBC, WBO and The Ring, all of it, in one night against Enzo Maccarinelli.

Then I did the thing everybody said could not be done. I moved up, and in 2009 I took the WBA heavyweight title of the world off Nikolai Valuev, seven stone heavier than me and a foot taller.

I have spent the years since on the other side of the ropes, on television and building businesses. The habits that got me there are the ones I work on with other men now.

Twenty six of my twenty eight wins came by knockout. That was never an accident. That was the job.

The nights that made the name.
